work in the community
Several of our projects are based in and around the Berkshire and Oxfordshire counties and our long term aim is to roll them out across the UK. The majority of our work centres on young people who find it hard to learn in a traditional school environment, referred school pupils and those already involved with the Youth Justice system.

We have devised our courses on our combined past teaching experiences. Lizzie was a tutor in charge of a residential home for excluded school pupils and has several years experience teaching both academic and physical subjects in a special measures school and Debbie as a learning assistant in special measures.

Guest teachers / mentors include double Gold Olympic Rower Steve Williams, Beijing Gold Olympic Cyclist Rebecca Romero, West End Theatre Director Garry Noakes and Dr. Alison McGregor, an expert in Biodynamics - Imperial College London.

CRED
We are currently teaching pupils from CRED, an award winning pioneering scheme, which has been in operation since 1998. Each year CRED accept 50 students nominated from local schools who have withdrawn their best efforts from their school performance. Students may have a history of problems in coping with the pressures of school and /or parental problems that may include estrangement; drug abuse and are invariably at risk of being in trouble with the justice system.

The “Body Rocks” course is taught to small single sex groups and after the initial induction, pupils are selected and offered the chance of studying the qualification.

Projects for 2009 also include working with Berkshire Association of Clubs for Young People, Thames Valley University and E2E.
